Abstract:
Abstract A mode filter (MF) is proposed to remove high density salt & pepper noise from images. First stage in this algorithm the pixels with noise are detected and in the second stage each noisy pixel has been replaced by the mode value, after reduced range and estimate all noise value (0’s and 255’s) from the kernel. The proposed algorithm MF shows significantly better image quality than a simple median filter (SMF), adapted mean filter (AMF), Decision Based Algorithm (DBA) and Decision Based Unsymmetric Trimmed Median Filter (MDBUTMF). The proposed algorithm is examined with different gray image and it appears better Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Image Enhancement Factor (IEF).
